The idea of seeking counselling can feel overwhelming especially when you haven’t ever experienced it before. For some people talking to a complete stranger can be out of their comfort zone. For others, it may not make sense how talking can help. There can be any number of concerns and it is quite normal.
What happens at the end of the first session?
Many women report feeling unburdened after letting it all off their chest. They feel heard and seen for who they are. They feel validated for having the space to speak where they are not judged. Although everyone is unique in their experiences but you will surely feel supported and heard. Towards the end, you may end up defining some key areas of focus for future sessions. Depending on the situation, it could be that you are encouraged to do some reflection in the lead up to the next appointment, alternatively you may be given some resources to consider to support you in the interim.
Ongoing sessions
Depending on how comfortable you are, you can share as much or as little as you like. I may have questions in sessions to understand you better. This is when I have the honour of getting to know you and learning about your dreams and desires. Counselling allows you to express yourself, gain perspective, learn some coping skills and explore ways to live a more meaningful and empowered life.
Who do I work with?
I am a women’s counsellor, with a special interest in diversity and inclusion and I love working with people from all backgrounds including multicultural backgrounds! Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) women are welcome to connect too – I speak Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi in addition to English. I absolutely adore and enjoy working with women who are invested in their own growth and committed to working on themselves. Nothing excites me more than partnering with women who recognise their need to grow.
You can live a fulsome life!
